Lydd Airport is proud to be supporting Aerobility, a UK charity dedicated to making the freedom of flight accessible to disabled people.

For over 30 years Aerobility has provided disabled individuals with the opportunity to experience the freedom, confidence and achievement that flying can bring. The charity uses flight as a powerful way to empower people – taking them through flying lessons and aviation-based activities.

As part of its operations across the Midlands & South of England; Aerobility uses a small number of carefully selected sites. Lydd Airport serves as one of these locations enabled by Lydd Aero Club. The airport provides an important site for the charity’s activities in the South East, helping Aerobility deliver meaningful flying experiences to participants and their families.

For many participants, taking to the skies is far more than a flight – it can be a life-changing experience that builds self-belief and demonstrates what is possible. Aerobility challenges the perceptions of their participants, inspiring them to discover their abilities and often asking them to consider: “If I can fly an aeroplane, what else can I do?”

Aerobility’s presence at Lydd Airport also highlights the important role that regional airports play in supporting charitable, community and general aviation activity. By providing accessible facilities and a welcoming operational environment, airports such as Lydd help organisations like Aerobility reach more people and continue their vital work.

Lydd Airport looks forward to continuing its support for Aerobility and welcoming the charity, its pilots, volunteers and participants to the airport.
